Retatrutide - Pre-Filled Pens
Triple GIP / GLP-1 / glucagon receptor agonist
Available as: 10mg, 20mg
Overview
Retatrutide supplied in pre-filled pens instead of lyophilised vials. Investigational single-molecule agonist (LY3437943) of the GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon receptors, in phase 3 development by Eli Lilly.
Mechanism
Adds glucagon-receptor activity to dual incretin agonism. Glucagon signalling raises energy expenditure and hepatic fat oxidation, on top of the appetite and glycaemic effects of GIP and GLP-1.
Research highlights
- Phase 2 obesity trial: mean weight reduction of up to 24.2% at 48 weeks, among the largest seen with any agent at the time.
- Phase 2 substudy: marked reductions in liver fat in participants with fatty liver disease.
- Phase 3 TRIUMPH and TRANSCEND programmes are studying obesity, type 2 diabetes and related conditions.
